Why it matters for marketers
When creating polished outputs using AI tools is instant and free, the burden of work moves from the sender to the recipient or reader, who now has to check and validate that what they've received is relevant, accurate, and verifiable.
What happened
In a BetterUp Labs and Stanford survey, 41% of US workers had received AI-generated work in the previous month that looked finished but was not. Each time, it took almost two hours to sort out.
In June, Harvard Business Review (Holweg and Davenport) described how this compounds across teams and degrades shared knowledge. Berkeley Haas researchers found AI adoption brought a faster pace and longer hours, often without anyone asking for it.
